Former Universal Champion Seth Rollins will be appearing on tonight’s episode of WWE Backstage where he himself Tweeted to reveal that the “gloves are off.”

Rollins’ wrestling career has been surrounded by controversy as of late since many fans were pushing for him to lose his Championship to The Fiend last month and now want him to complete his heel turn. Backstage comes across as very much in character, which means that Rollins will probably cut an interesting promo about his future since rumors currently suggest that he hasn’t actually turned heel yet.

CM Punk made his shock return to a WWE affiliated program as part of WWE Backstage a few weeks ago and many fans believed that he would be part of the show this week since Rollins has called him out on Social Media a number of times. A fan asked Punk if he could be part of the Renee Young-hosted show tonight and Punk stated that he passed on the appearance but would be there next week instead.

There were some interesting rumors circulating surrounding Punk and Rollins after The Architect addressed CM Punk chants on RAW last week in Chicago. Vince McMahon reportedly wasn’t happy about the reaction from Rollins, which means that it’s unlikely that the current plan is for the two men to collide at WrestleMania in Tampa Bay next year.

In the absence of CM Punk, it will be interesting to see what Rollins is able to discuss and if the subject of Becky Lynch‘s recent absence from Monday Night RAW will be addressed, because The Man hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since her loss to Shayna Baszler at Survivor Series at the end of November. It will also be interesting to see what Rollins has to say about his current booking if he does decide to speak off the cuff.
