CM Punk walked away from WWE, and seemingly the entire business of professional wrestling in 2014. The notoriously prickly superstar has been known to be a bit snippy when asked about his future plans but, during an interview at Starrcast III, he gave a decidedly more evenhanded response.
According to Punk, he’s not really bothered or surprised at all the constant questions and speculations about whether or not he is going to return to the wrestling ring.
“It’s a testament to what I’ve done and the mark I’ve left on a business,” said Punk. “I think it’s pretty cool.”
Punk elaborated that getting asked ’When are you coming back?’ is better than being asked always a lot ‘When are you going the f— away?’
“Trust me, people ask that all the time, so it’s a nice healthy balance of both,” said Punk.
While Punk’s answers to specific questions about his future with either WWE, AEW or any other wrestling promotion or related gig was vague, he did have some interesting things to say about his relationship with WWE.
According to Punk, if he got a call from either Vince McMahon or Triple H, he would take it. Punk stated that he would be open to speaking with anyone, but he would not be the one reaching out to anyone.
Punk also stated that, rumors to the contrary, he would not show up at AEW’s All Out as, he would be spending time with his wife, former WWE Diva’s Champion AJ Lee, who had been in Los Angeles for almost a week and had just returned.
“I haven’t seen her in a minute, so I’m gonna be hanging out with her tonight. I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, I’m sorry,” said Punk, laughing off comments that he was working fans.
