CM Punk has been linked with a move to AEW and a return to WWE over the past few months, but the former WWE Champion is yet to appear for either promotion as the battle for the self-proclaimed Best In The World continues.

It seems that this isn’t the only on-going battle in the wrestling world since AEW once again won the rating war on Wednesday night and continued to mention WWE as part of their product when both Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes made light of the work they once did in WWE.

Punk recently spoke to Screen Rant to promote his upcoming movie Girl on the Third Floor and the question of WWE and AEW’s ongoing war came up. Punk responded that he believes that AEW needs to stop talking about WWE.

“I think AEW needs to focus on themselves and stop talking about WWE. Cody and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, all those guys have something great going on. I just think it lessens and cheapens what they are doing when they constantly attack WWE.

“There hasn’t been an alternative to WWE in so very long, and I think they do a disservice to themselves when they’re trying to be the alternative but constantly bring up WWE.

“But I understand, when people ask you the questions during the interviews you have to answer them. But that’s just part of life. You have to learn how to navigate that.

“I would like them to just try to focus on their product and building it up and making it better. I think that would benefit all the fans,” he said via GiveMeSport.

The latest on Punk’s return to WWE Backstage is that executives have “moved on” from Punk but Higher-ups in the company are yet to give up on bringing Punk back to WWE completely.
