Just before this week’s episode of Dynamite, on B/R Live, Shaquille O’Neal issued a challenge to Cody Rhodes for a match in March.
Rhodes answered the challenge during a segment on AEW Dynamite this week, accepting it but placing a condition of his own.
Rhodes was in the ring with Tony Schiavone and Arn Anderson when he said that he would want to face O’Neal and his ally Jade Cargill in a mixed match during AEW Revolution.
Ideally, Rhodes would be teaming with his wife Brandi, but as she was pregnant, he was going to defer to his coach Anderson as to what to do next.
Anderson then called Rhode’s ally Red Velvet to the ring and she and Rhodes told O’Neal that the ball was in his court and they would love to face him and Cargill.
If Shaq accepts on behalf of himself and Cargill, it is likely that the mixed tag match will occur during AEW Revolution, a pay-per-view that is scheduled to occur in March.
While the exact date of Revolution has not been officially released, it is likely to occur on March 7. As of now, there are only two matches officially set for Revolution, a street fight between Brian Cage and Ricky Starks, and Darby Allin and Sting, and a championship match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
