Could WWE Still Be Building Towards Brock Lesnar vs Shane McMahon?

Crown Jewel was a successful night for both Shane McMahon and Brock Lesnar as the Commissioner of SmackDown Live was able to win the first ever WWE World Cup, despite not being a participant in the tournament, whilst Lesnar handled business in record time and was able to reclaim his Universal Championship.

Now that McMahon can call himself “The Best in the World” it’s going to get in the head of Lesnar and that could well lead to something between the two men in the future.

Many of the WWE Universe will remember that there was once a plan to stage Lesnar vs McMahon which is why SmackDown’s Commissioner took an F5 following Lesnar’s match with Randy Orton back at SummerSlam in 2016, but nothing ever came of this confrontation.

The Wrestling Observer noted that this was the original plan, but it was a terrible idea and was scrapped. Which means that WWE could decide to present the match now since they are running on a limited amount of resources with the likes of Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Bray Wyatt all seemingly sidelined.

Reports now suggest that McMahon could decide to involve himself in the match between Lesnar and WWE Champion AJ Styles at Survivor Series in two weeks time, which could then lead to a match between the two stars down the line.

Of course, there is also the chance that Lesnar’s match could be invaded by Braun Strowman who lost to Lesnar at Crown Jewel following five F5’s. Basically, WWE has a number of options for Lesnar now that he has seemingly re-signed with the company in what is reported to have been a non-exclusive contract, which means that he is still free to work for UFC throughout.
