During the most recent WWE NXT live event at Green Bay, Wisconsin, Dakota Kai seems to have suffered a legitimate leg injury.
Kai was involved in a six-woman tag team match that saw her teaming with Kairi Sane and Candice LeRae against the current NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.
The injury was supposed to have happened when Kai was in the ring throwing strikes. She went down with what looked like a knee injury. The referee who went to Kai’s side threw the dreaded “X” signal which brought the medical professionals down to the ring.
Kai was deemed unable to continue and helped limping back to the back. The match then continued as a standard tag team match. Further details as to the extent of Kai’s injury have yet to be released.

The New Zealand native has been signed with the WWE since December 2016, she performs both on NXT and NXT UK. Before signing with the WWE, she wrestled for Shimmer Women’s Athletic, Shine Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance, and Impact Pro Wrestling.
Kai was a participant in the first Mae Young Classic where she defeated Kavita Devi and Rhea Ripley to move into the quarterfinals. She was then defeated by the eventual winner, Kairi Sane. Kai was part of WrestleMania 34, where she competed in the Women’s Battle Royal. Her participation in the Battle Royal makes her the first female New Zealander to compete at WrestleMania.
Kai was also part of the first all-women pay-per-view Evolution, where she challenged Rhea Ripley in a dark match for the NXT Women’s Championship. She was unsuccessful in her attempt and Ripley became the inaugural holder of the championship.
