Damien Sandow left the WWE back in 2017. While Sandow was popular with the fans, he just never really seemed to take off and was mostly reduced to slightly comedic roles.
After he was released by the WWE, Sandow went to TNA but didn’t stay long. He’s now more focused on pursuing an acting career but in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, he’s not totally ruling out a return to the ring.
“What if I do get an itch some day? I don’t want to niche myself into saying ‘I’m just an actor.’ No, I’m me. I’m trying acting and digging it but that doesn’t mean I’m going to deny my past,” said Sandow.
Sandow also talked about his release and seems to hold no regrets or ill will about his time with the WWE.
“I don’t harbor feelings of ‘Oh this should have happened.’ No. Whatever happened, happened,” said Sandow. “That’s the way it is. Hey, good luck, thank you very much and it’s just time to move on.”
Van Vliet also asked Sandow about another current WWE Superstar who made his debut about the same time as Sandow was leaving, Elias.
Many people seem to think that Elias and Sandow look uncannily alike and, according to Sandow he actually heard that before.
“I met him once, I think I was in the Performance Center,” said Sandow. “And he said, ‘Everyone says I look like you’ and I said ‘Well I hope you can do better with it than me.’
“From what I’ve seen of him, and I don’t watch the product that much, he really is talented and I’m really happy for him,” he said.
