Dana White On CM Punk’s UFC Future: “It Should Be A Wrap”

CM Punk lost to Mike Jackson via unanimous decision on Saturday Night at the UFC 225 Pay-Per-View. With Punk’s UF C record now stands at 2 straight losses, his career in the company seems to be uncertain.

During the UFC 225 post-fight press conference, UFC President, Dana White was asked about CM Punk’s future in the UFC:

“It should be a wrap,” White said. “The guy is 39 years old. We gave him two shots and he had a lot of heart tonight. I think he should call it a wrap.”

White blasted Jackson despite his victory over Punk and regrets not putting it on Fight Pass. The President expressed his dissatisfaction with how “The Truth” seemingly did not go for the finish.

“Michael Jackson I’m not happy with. This guy was acting like a goofball tonight,” White said. “You get this opportunity to come in and fight CM Punk and you’re doing like bolo punches to the body on top? Never looked like he was trying to finish the fight, ever, right? Looked like he could have finished the fight a few times, never tried… I don’t know what that guy did for a living before we gave him the shot, but whatever it was, he needs to go back and do that again. He’s 0-2 as far as I’m concerned.”

During the fight, commentator Joe Rogan joked that maybe someone had paid Jackson to make sure that the fight lasted for 3 full rounds.

UFC 225 live-gate was $2.55 million and the arena was sold out with additional standing room tickets that were made available during the final days prior to the show.
