Daniel Bryan and Rowan lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at Extreme Rules to The New Day in a triple threat match that also included Heavy Machinery and it appears that this loss has made Bryan rethink his path in WWE.

As part of WWE’s official preview for tonight’s SmackDown Live, it’s reported that Bryan will address the WWE Universe and make a career-altering decision.

After Extreme Rules, Bryan blamed the tag team division for failing in helping him live his dream of elevating. He said that he knew exactly what needed to be done to save the planet and that was to “aim higher” in his goals.

Daniel Bryan was backstage last night for Raw and originally slated to be part of the Battle Royal that main evented the show, but was later replaced by Sami Zayn. According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE just decided to go in a different direction with Bryan.

Following the above interview WWE.com posted the following:

In the aftermath of the interview, WWE.com has learned that Bryan plans on making a career-altering announcement tonight on SmackDown LIVE. Bryan has promised that this will change the course of his career and shake SmackDown LIVE to its core. Just what exactly does Bryan have planned?

Daniel Bryan has had quite the fairytale wrestling career, despite the fact that he spent two years on the sidelines following an injury that many doctors believed to have been career-ending. Bryan retired from the company back in February 2016 and was then given the role as SmackDown General Manager since he was still a popular star with the WWE Universe.

Bryan remained in this position throughout his time on the treatment table and incredibly was able to return to the ring ahead of WrestleMania last year. Despite his popularity, Bryan has molded himself a gimmick that has allowed him to turn heel and become WWE Champion once again as well as recently being a Tag Team Champion alongside Erick Rowan.

Current speculation suggests that Bryan could be set to announce his retirement once again, but it’s more likely that the former World Champion could be looking to step back from Tag Team wrestling and climb back into the main Championship picture now that Kofi Kingston needs a new challenger heading into SummerSlam.

With the return of Luke Harper being hinted and the fact that Rowan is still in a storyline with Daniel Bryan, this adds quite an interesting storyline if WWE decides to cash in on it.
