Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is focused on defending his title against Derrick Lewis, but he’s already thinking of a jump to the WWE.
Cormier is a professional wrestling fan and has long said that he would be interested in making the jump from mixed martial arts to the WWE. However, as he revealed in a recent interview, the jump might not be into the ring.
During a UFC 230 media day, Cormier revealed he was working to join the WWE’s commentary team and had in fact postponed an audition to fight at UFC 230 this November 3.
”If I didn’t have this fight, I have been talking to the WWE, because they wanted me to go in and do an audition as a member of the commentary team.” said Cormier.
“That was my private little thing. But because of the fight, I had to push it back,” he added.

According to Cormier, one of the things he’s looking forward to when he makes the jump to the WWE would be working with WWE owner and CEO Vince McMahon.
Cormier said he heard that McMahon often takes an active role with the commentary team, telling them what to say over their earpieces.
“I want to freak out next to the thing with Vince in my ear saying, ‘Say this, you asshole!”, said Cormier.
Though Cormier is looking forward to working with the WWE, he also said that he didn’t want to completely leave UFC and even hopes he can work with both the WWE and UFC as a commentator.
“I love calling fights.” said Cormier. “This is home[UFC]. Over there [WWE] is new and most times, new is fun and exciting. But I love being home.”
