Dax Harwood, one half of the AEW tag team FTR, took to Instagram this weekend to reveal his struggles with weight and body image.
According to Harwood, he had always struggled with his weight and at one time was actually bulimic.
“My highest weight was 282 lbs, which on a 5’10 frame is not very “attractive”; not healthy,” wrote Harwood.
“I’ve tried every diet, but they rarely worked because I’m so afraid of food. I was scared of going backwards,” he added.
Harwood went on the reveal that it was with the help of his friend and coach Ferlan Bailey, that put him on a healthier path.
He then took a shot at Internet fans who talk about his “dad bod and loose skin”.
Harwood’s post was commented on by several other pro wrestlers, like his tag team partner Cash Wheeler who told him to ignore the haters and called him “the best goddamn worker in the biz” and a great family man.
AEW’s Sony Kiss called him an “inspiration”, while WWE’s Apollo Crews simply stated that he “loved it.”
Body image issues tend to crop up in the professional wrestling business due to the nature of the work as well as overly critical fans.
