Developmental Talent Tests Positive For COVID-19, WWE Postpones Tapings

A developmental talent has tested positive for COVID-19 and now WWE is taking precautionary measures for their employees amidst huge panic and confusion backstage.

In an official statement, WWE addressed the positive COVID-19 test and noted that all employees on-site will now be tested immediately. Ryan Satin first broke the news on Twitter.

“A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”

Satin further noted that the particular individual is a Performance Center recruit and not someone on the NXT roster.

Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE has canceled tomorrow’s scheduled television tapings. The billion-dollar promotion had planned to tape next week’s RAW and SmackDown on June 16 but things are now on hold until Wednesday.

According to Ringside News, the backstage environment is nothing short of “pure chaos and confusion” and “no one really knows that’s going on.”
