Christian was one of the surprise entrants in the 2021 Royal Rumble match, which allowed the former World Champion to unite with his former tag team partner Edge.
Christian has been struggling to be cleared for action in recent years after issues with concussions but was able to work hard to gain medical clearance and become one of the 30-men in this year’s match.
Edge recently spoke to CBS Sports following his Royal Rumble victory where he revealed his reaction to his best friend returning to the ring.
“The Rumble was one of those instances where, when Christian was coming down the ramp, I was so happy for him. I was so proud of him and proud of the work he put in and the grind and struggle to get cleared and be able to do this again. Similar to me, he can end it on his terms and not just have it taken away when you don’t expect it. That’s a hard thing to swallow, and now we have a chance to have that not be the case, and that’s just really special.”
One interesting stat coming out of this year’s Royal Rumble is that there were just two men in the whole match who were under the age of 30.
This shows how much WWE’s focus has been on older stars in recent months and now Christian has returned to WWE on a part-time basis and will wrestle several more matches for the company.
