The first four matches on this year’s King of the Ring tournament have been officially announced by WWE.
WWE announced the 16 competitors in this year’s King of the Ring earlier. This week’s episode of both RAW and SmackDown will officially kick off the tournament with two King of the Ring match-ups on each show.
It has been announced that new RAW superstar and former WWE 205 stalwart and champion Cedric Alexander will be competing against the man who is now calling himself “The Critic of the Critics” Sami Zayn.
Meanwhile, two men both known for their strong fighting style, Samoa Joe and Cesaro will also clash on RAW this Monday. Whether the Samoan Submission Machine or the Swiss Cyborg advances in the match, we all win as this is sure to be a great match.
Recently on SmackDown, Kevin Owens has been clashing with Shane McMahon. For McMahon’s part, he’s been deploying a number of allies to ensure that he frustrates Owens’ attempts to get past him. One of these allies is the current WWE 24/7 Champion Elias. Now the two men are set to clash again, this time at the King of the Ring tournament.
Elias won the 24/7 Championship on the last episode of SmackDown and he’s sure to want to include a new accolade by advancing in the King of the Ring tournament. Meanwhile, Owens who earned a $100,000 fine from McMahon on that same episode is sure to be looking forward to some payback against Elias and McMahon.
The last announced match for the King of the Ring Tournament this week will be Apollo Crews vs Andrade on SmackDown. This is just the newest chapter on a slow shimmering rivalry the two have had since they both moved to the Blue brand during the Superstar Shakeup.
