First Participant For AEW Double or Nothing Casino Ladder Match Announced, Cody Says Their “Empty Arena” Shows Are Superior

AEW is set to hold their next Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on May 23. One of the featured matches for Double Or Nothing will be a Casino Ladder Match and the winner of this match will get a future opportunity for the AEW World Championship.

AEW has just announced the first participant of the Casino Ladder Match, Darby Allin.

The AEW World Championship is currently held by Jon Moxley. Moxley will also be seeing action during Double Or Nothing, defending his championship against Brodie Lee.

Aside from the Casino Ladder Match and the AEW World Championship Match, Double Or Nothing will also feature the finals of the first TNT Championship Match. Cody and Lance Archer will be competing to become the first TNT Champion.

Also announced for the pay-per-view is a match between MJF and Jungle Boy.

Cody Rhodes was a guest on Busted Open Radio where he talked about the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on professional wrestling – namely the advent of empty arena shows.

Rhodes was asked by host Bully Ray if he considered AEW Dynamite and Dark – both which are currently taped in empty arenas – the most entertaining wrestling products of this time.

“Oh yeah, wholeheartedly,” said Rhodes.

He also talked about how AEW talent is pulling together to put on good shows, even with a limited staff. According to Rhodes, many AEW wrestlers are actually working multiple roles.

One great example of this is Chris Jericho who is currently also working on commentary with Tony Schiavone. Jericho’s work as a commentator has been garnering praise and Rhodes said that the work the duo has been turning out has been a “silver lining” brought about by circumstances.
