Former WWE superstar Mike Knox recently talked with Dr. Chris Feathertone of Sportskeeda. Among other things, Knox talked about his elimination at the hand of Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 2006.
Knox recalled that Michael Hayes revealed his spot at Survivor Series to him. Mike wanted to do something memorable at the show but then, Hayes said that he’d get eliminated by Michaels in one second after a superkick.
“So he comes and says, ‘Well, you can do that. You can go out there and do four minutes or whatever and just be completely forgotten, but everybody, or you have a moment. One of those moments people remember, and they ask you about what part of your career, and I’m just like, ‘I want that.’ This is going to be so cool. He’s like, okay. You’re going to get superkicked in one second, and you’re out. And I’m like, ‘Ohhh!’ I was like, ‘That’s not the moment I wanted.”
Mike didn’t want that spot; he wanted to do something memorable to promote the ECW brand. He also said that this decision was made at a WWE meeting and he couldn’t overturn it.
“Here’s the funny thing about pro wrestling, man. You know these characters, and in the end, they tell you this bad news; it’s not their fault. Somebody told them. This has happened in a meeting.”
