Former Knockout’s Champion Announced For Mae Young Classic

The second annual Mae Young Classic takes place on August 8th and 9th before the final of the tournament is reported to be taking place at the first ever all-women’s pay-per-view “Evolution” in October. Ahead of the opening rounds of the tournament, WWE has been slowly announcing some of the competitors and currently, there have been a number of big names unveiled, including former Divas Champion Kaitlyn, who left WWE back in 2014.

This week many other names have been revealed including former Knockout’s Champion Madison Rayne, who revealed the good news on her Twitter account earlier today.

Rumors circulated about Rayne’s involvement in the tournament earlier this week following her defeat to Su Yung at Slammaversary and the fact that she has been written out of any future feuds in TNA. The other names who were announced today include Shine’s Pricilla Kelly and the daughter of Performance Center trainer Xia Brookside who is just 19 years old and set to become an addition to NXT UK in the future as well.

Twenty of the 32 competitors have already been revealed and some of the names who will be included in the tournament include Lo Shirai, Kacy Catanzaro, Toni Storm and Indian star Kavita Devi.

The second annual Mae Young Classic has a lot to follow through on given that the final of the Classic last year pitted Kairi Sane against Shayna Baszler, the same match that will be part of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn this year for the NXT Women’s Championship. There aren’t many names left to be announced for the tournament now, but it appears that WWE is going all out to include some of the biggest female wrestlers in the world.
