Former NFL Quarterback Doug Flutie Wins (and Loses) WWE 24/7 Championship

Former NFL Quarterback Doug Flutie won his first WWE championship this weekend.

As part of a celebration for Super Bowl weekend, several WWE Superstars were involved in a Celebrity Flag Football Game held by ESPNews.

WWE’s Titus O’Neil, The Miz, and Cesaro were all present and involved in the game. So was the (then and now) WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth.

Truth had just won back the WWE 24/7 Championship from Peter Rosenberg, who had been a guest during the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Rosenberg pinned Truth during last Sunday’s show, but Truth was able to ambush and pin Rosenberg in a hotel room the Monday after, to get back his “baby”.

Truth and Flutie had been teammates during the flag football game but Flutie was able to surprise Truth during halftime. Flutie rolled up Truth for the three-count to win the WWE 24/7 Championship.

Flutie didn’t hold the championship long, as Truth was able to reclaim the 24/7 championship before the event was over.

By reclaiming the championship from Flutie, Truth became the WWE 24/7 Championship for the 49th time, the most by any superstar.
