Former WWE Announcer Set to Make In-Ring Debut in AEW

AEW Women’s Tag Team Tournament is coming up as an opportunity for several superstars to contest in an AEW ring, and former WWE ring announcer Dasha Gonzalez (Dasha Fuentes in WWE) will be making her in-ring debut in the company.

Gonzalez will team up with another former WWE superstar Rachel Ellering, to take on Diamante and Ivelisse.

AEW made the announcement earlier today, with Madusa (Alundra Blayze) giving the news to Gonzalez. The match will take place later today on AEW’s Youtube Channel.

Gonzalez, who stayed in WWE for a period of five years from 2014-19, before being released, currently works as an on-screen personality for AEW.

She is currently in the position of an interviewer, also providing commentary for AEW’s Spanish broadcast. She wrestled a few matches for WWE before being converted into a full-time backstage interviewer.

The AEW Tag Team Tournament’s first matchup last week saw former WWE star Arianna Andrew (Cameron) team up with Nyla Rose to take on Anna Jay and Taynara Conti in a losing effort, while The Nightmare Sisters (Brandi Rhodes and Allie) took out Mel and Penelope Ford.

Rachel Ellering is also scheduled for AEW Dark this week, where she will take on Penelope Ford. Ellering, who is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer and former manager of AOP, Paul Ellering, was released by WWE as part of the mass-layoffs in April.

It remains to be seen if Gonzalez’s appearance inside the squared circle is merely a one-time thing or the company will use her more in the coming weeks.
