Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard Goes Missing in the Ocean, Rescue Team on the Case

Former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard has gone missing after a wave hit him at Venice Beach in California on Sunday. Gaspard, who wrestled in WWE for a long time as part of Cryme Tyme along with JTG, has not been seen since the incident.

The 39-year-old went for a swim along with a group of other individuals, including his 10-year-old son. A strong current hit them and lifesavers immediately went to rescue the group. Gaspard’s son was safely brought to the shore, but he was nowhere to be seen.

TMZ reported that a full-force rescue mission is on, with helicopters and divers brought into the area to locate the missing individual. The LA Fire Department believes that Gaspard ‘submerged’ into the water, which is not a good sign.

A witness from the scene of this dreadful incident told TMZ that Gaspard directed the lifeguards to save his son, after which another wave hit him. This was the last time Gaspard was seen, and officials are fearing the worst at this time.

Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reported that the rescue mission is being called off. A few hours earlier, Dave Meltzer tweeted that the rescue mission was not ‘looking good’, according to a friend of his who was on the scene.

Gaspard wrestled alongside JTG from 2006-07 and then 2008-10, and later teamed up a few times on the independent circuit. Gaspard made the headlines a few years ago when he stopped an armed robbery.

Gaspard and JTG were majorly a comedic relief in the tag-team division and had a lot of iconic moments on the big stage. The duo had a dance party with several WWE legends during WrestleMania 23, and were found selling Lita’s clothes after her retirement.

Hopefully, Gaspard is found soon, but things look pretty bleak at this point. Several wrestling stars have poured out prayers for Gaspard on social media, which can be seen below.
