Bray Wyatt hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since August, but he made a shock return to the ring at Starrcade in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday night, when he answered Baron Corbin’s open challenge and went on to defeat the Acting Raw General Manager twice.
Wyatt subbed in for Braun Strowman who is set to undergo surgery on his injured elbow later today, but it’s now thought that his return could be part of a much bigger plan.
WWE won’t know how long Strowman will be sidelined for until after his surgery today, which could be why Wyatt has been brought back, to ensure that Corbin will still have an opponent at TLC if Strowman is unable to be cleared.
Wyatt and Strowman have their own history since The Monster Among Men started his main roster career as a member of The Wyatt Family, so it seems like the perfect fit for Wyatt to be coming to his aid after everything that Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and Bobby Lashley threw at him last week on Raw.
Dave Meltzer recently discussed Wyatt’s return on The Wrestling Observer, where he pointed out that it’s feasible that he’s their new back up plan.
“I don’t know if that means he’s going to be back at TV on Monday or not. But perhaps that means they may do an angle on Monday if Strowman can’t wrestle and Bray Wyatt comes back and wrestles Baron Corbin in San Jose, maybe? Who knows? But maybe [Wyatt] will be back on Monday, yeah,” he said via Ringsidenews.
It remains to be seen as to whether or not Wyatt returns on Raw tonight and the company then start to build a feud between Corbin and The Eater of Worlds instead.
