AJ Styles and Samoa Joe have stepped into a personal rivalry over the past few weeks and that came to a head at SummerSlam when Joe technically defeated Styles, but it was through disqualification which meant that he was unable to lift the title.
The subsequent rematch between the two men will take place at Hell In A Cell on September 16th, but they will also have a match the following month at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia as part of WWE’s Super Show-Down.
Despite there already being two fierce competitors in the WWE Championship picture, WWE has also announced a number one contenders match between Daniel Bryan and The Miz, which means that Joe and Styles’ feud could be over following their collision in Australia.

If Styles loses the match at Hell In A Cell and cashes in his contractual rematch in Australia, and also loses, then The Phenomenal One would be taken out of the title picture and it would then make sense for Bryan and Joe to move forward.
This is highly unlikely, given Miz’s recent successes and the fact that WWE wouldn’t end a personal storyline so suddenly, the most likely option is for Styles to win both of his upcoming matches against Samoa Joe before moving into a feud with The Miz.
Joe can re-enter the title picture at any time and even though it has been rumored that he was supposed to win the title back at SummerSlam, WWE could have changed their mind.
This is a storyline that has gained a lot of reaction from the WWE Universe and in order for Styles to get revenge on Joe for making this personal, the only definitive ending is if he can show that he can defeat Joe when it counts.
