Chris Jericho is widely considered to be one of the best all-around wrestlers in the world since Y2J has been able to adapt his character a number of times over the years to ensure that he is always relevant. Despite the fact that Jericho is one of the best characters in AEW at present, it appears that Y2J isn’t a fan of putting over younger talent.
Former WWE star Heath Slater recently sat down with Lewis Nicholls where he recalled a match against Chris Jericho from much earlier in his career where Jericho wasn’t too happy about being forced to put Slater over.
“I do know that Chris [Jericho] didn’t like it that I was beating him and he had to go to Pat Patterson and he was complaining to Pat like ‘Why in the world is this rookie gonna beat me?! I can’t believe this! Blah blah blah blah!’ Then Pat Patterson looks at him and says: ‘Ahh he’s a rookie! No one will remember it next week!’ I’m like that might be true, but then 10 years later people still talk about that match too, so yeah. It was one of those things that yes, it was awesome for me.”
Following Slater’s release last month, there have been rumors that he could be heading over to AEW where he would cross paths with Chris Jericho once again.
Heath Slater was released along with a number of other WWE stars last month, but it appears that names are still being leaked publicly and Rachael Ellering is the latest name to be confirmed. Dave Meltzer recently confirmed that the daughter of WWE Hall Of Famer Paul Ellering and girlfriend of Kassius Ohno was amongst last month’s WWE releases after suffering a knee injury.
“The gist was that she blew out her knee and she had reconstructive surgery… When she was doing rehab there was something that happened, and I don’t know that it was bad but it was bad enough in the sense of she complained about some treatment.”
“And when it came time for the cuts everybody who complained, who was not a soldier, everybody who complained were the people that were gone. So, she was basically told that you know, you’re gone. And she’d actually thought about quitting but had not. But she did not quit, it was WWE’s decision. She was one of those cuts, but she was not unhappy about it either from what I gather.”
