History Will Be Made At The Commentary Desk For WWE Evolution

WWE Evolution takes place this Sunday night and last night it was revealed that WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, Renee Young and SmackDown General Manager Paige would be part of the pre-show panel for Evolution, before Phoenix and Young then joined Michael Cole on commentary.

This will be the first time in history two women have been part of the commentary team for a pay-per-view and even though many members of the WWE Universe wanted it to be an all-women’s show, Michael Cole needs to be there as an anchor since Young and Phoenix have never run a show of their own before.

Young made history a few months ago by becoming the first female full-time commentator in WWE history and Phoenix has been the commentator for the Mixed Match Challenge, which means that the two women already have experience, but a play-by-play commentator is still needed for the show and Cole is the best that WWE has.

Phoenix was one of the first names announced for the show, but many fans believed she would be reunited with her Divas of Doom partner Natalya in tag team action. After Nattie’s match was revealed last week, it was made obvious that Phoenix wouldn’t physically be part of the show, but instead, she will continue her new career path as a commentator and make history in the process.

Paige will be heartbroken that she isn’t playing a physical part in the show after announcing her in-ring retirement earlier this year, but WWE has found a place for Paige on the kick-off panel and she could also play a role in the show if she’s needed as the General Manager of SmackDown Live.

Lilian Garcia also revealed that she will be returning for WWE Evolution as she makes up a three-woman ring announce team which also includes Kayla Braxton and JoJo Offerman.
