Huge Fatal Four-Way Match Announced For The Royal Rumble

The annual Royal Rumble is now just a month away and whilst the main event for the show has already been announced and will see Braun Strowman challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

As well as the huge 30-man Royal Rumble which will see the winner given the chance to main event WrestleMania 35, it was announced on 205 Live this week that Buddy Murphy will be forced to defend his Cruiserweight Championship in a fatal four-way match.

Murphy’s opponents are yet to be announced, but over the next few weeks the winners of matches between Kalisto and Lio Rush, Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak, as well as Hideo Itami and Cedric Alexander will determine the four men in the match on January 27th.

Buddy Murphy has been one of the fastest rising stars on 205 Live over the past few months, ever since he won the title back at Super Show-Down in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia, but after months of singles title defenses, this could be the toughest test that the former NXT Tag Team Champion has been forced to undertake.

Whilst Raw and SmackDown Live have taken on a new era, it appears that 205 Live hasn’t been given the same kind of boost. The brand recently lost Mustafa Ali to SmackDown Live, which will be a huge loss given the fact that he was one of the most popular stars and was gunning for the Cruiserweight title before the switch.

This match is now guaranteed to include some of the brand’s top stars and could also mean that there will be a strong Cruiserweight presence as part of the Royal Rumble match later in the night.
