HUGE Update On WWE SummerSlam Main Event Plan

A new report suggests that WWE could be aiming for a WrestleMania rematch for title match at SummerSlam.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE may already be hinting fans at the possible Universal title match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. WrestleMania 34 ended in a major “upset” as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome remained witness to The Beast conquering a busted-open Big Dog in a bloody main event which took the entire pro-wrestling world by storm.

“In commentary, they were heavily pushing the idea that Reigns deserves a title shot because of what happened at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Currently, that is the idea for SummerSlam, but as noted last week, at least as of a few days ago, it was not 100 percent confirmed, but was the working idea that Lesnar returns for SummerSlam and Reigns as of right now is the opponent.”

Although a lot can change over the next couple of months, including the result of the Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match, as of now, Reigns is getting yet another shot at The Conqueror.

Joining the USADA testing pool by June 30, 2018 would make Lesnar eligible to fight at the UFC show in Las Vegas on December 30, 2018 in which case, it is evident that Lesnar would be finally dropping the title to reigns at SummerSlam.

At this point, it is unclear what remains in store for Paul Heyman although he has expressed his interest to be the Advocate of “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey. However, it seems likely that WWE is not headed in that direction as Rousey is currently being groomed as the top babyface for WrestleMania 35.

If the WresteMania 34 main event rematch is to take place at SummerSlam, then the dream match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley might be in the rear view mirror.
