As we reported yesterday, there are rumors and on-air hints that Kevin Owens will be the next challenger for Roman Reigns.
Owens has been critical of Reigns’ return as The Tribal Chief and, during the last episode of SmackDown, continued to “threaten” Reigns’ claims of being about family and the head of the table of the WWE Samoan dynasty.
Owens continued criticizing Reigns during the latest episode of Talking Smack where he basically “talked smack” to The Tribal Chief’s advisor, Paul Heyman.
Heyman issued some advice (or a veiled threat) to Owens about his dealings with Reigns. According to Heyman, he understood that Owens was looking to make his reputation and that he knew that Owens realized that the way to do that was by challenging Reigns.
“Nobody else around here may realize that you’re the number one contender, but I do. Because I know how twisted that brain is, and you’re looking at an opportunity here to get to Roman Reigns and solidify your legacy.” Heyman said to Owens.
In response, Owens stated that he was not a “good guy” or a “bad guy.”
“I’m the guy that’s going to beat Roman Reigns and take the Universal Championship from him,” said Owens, shaking Heyman’s hand and acknowledging that news of this would get back to Reigns.
Reigns has also acknowledged that Owens seems to be challenging him, retweeting a clip from SmackDown, where Owens was facing Jey Uso in a match and asked “You watching, Roman?”
Reigns implied that Owens has made the challenge personal by “attacking his blood” and threatening his position.
“You have my attention,” declared Roman.
Though the match between the two has yet to be made official, it is likely that this will take place during the final pay-per-view of 2020, TLC on December 20.
