Stephanie McMahon made the historic announcement earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, that the Women’s Division would be part of the first ever all-women’s pay-per-view called Evolution on October 28th.
It was later revealed that this show will include Women’s Championship matches from all three brands, including NXT as well as the final of the second annual Mae Young Classic. Hall of Famers Beth Phoenix, Trish Stratus, and Lita have already been announced for the show, but according to The Wrestling Observer, WWE could also be planning another huge match to ensure that all the women that have been booked are used on the show.
WWE has been contacting a number of legends since it was reported yesterday that the company had reached out to ECW stars Beluah and Francine, which means that a Battle Royal is likely to be part of the card. This makes sense since there will be more than 50 women booked for the event and that would mean that there would have to be more than 15 matches that included singles and tags to accommodate all of these women.
“With more than 50 performers on the show, that would likely mean a Battle Royal type of match to get everyone on the show.” Dave Meltzer reported via Ringsidenews.
Many of the women that the company has contacted are not in a position where they could wrestle a full match, which means a battle royal would allow some of the legends to return and hit a few spots. The Women’s Tag Team Championships have been rumored to be part of the show as well, which would definitely add a new dynamic to the card, but as of right now there is no official confirmation of this.
