WrestleMania 35 is just 4 months away and there has already been enough talk regarding which Superstars should headline WWE’s biggest pay-per-view event on April 7. It appears that for the first time ever, an all-female WrestleMania main event is likely upon us.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross discussed a potential all-female WrestleMania 35 main event; this time the male Superstars aren’t “hot” enough to headline the Showcase of Immortals.
“I would be very comfortable in booking Becky Lynch versus Ronda Rousey in the main event at WrestleMania. I wouldn’t be offended if they added Charlotte to that match, but right now, Becky and Ronda would be my match on top. That’s the hottest thing they have going right now. Right now, none of the men are red hot. You can’t say that about the women. They have captivated the attention of the fans.”
“There is no male red hot enough to make me want to supersede putting them above Rousey or Lynch in the main event at WrestleMania. WWE can also market to the outside world that this is the first time in history that women are going to close the show. That is an amazing opportunity, and these women would be pioneers for the company.”
Rousey, Flair, Lynch and Nia Jax have spearheaded the women’s division throughout 2018 with ‘The Man’ having a slight edge over her rivals.
Rousey is the undisputed constant in the main event equation of next year’s WrestleMania. Although fans are currently in favor of a typical 1-on-1 match with either Flair or Lynch getting a shot at the RAW Women’s Champion, WWE might spice things up and call for a Triple Threat main event matchup.
A Triple Threat main event match featuring the three badasses might as well have a title on the line to make matters more exciting.
