16-time World Champion John Cena is currently working a limited time schedule in WWE as he continues to focus on his Hollywood career which looks quite promising at the moment.

While filming for Jackie Chan’s “Project X”, Cena grew his hair out that resulted in a social media meltdown, with fans claiming The Champ looks very similar to JBL.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the Leader of Cenation explained the reason behind letting his hair grow out and it appears that Hollywood has played a major role in his decision.

“I think there’s a lot of dedicated WWE fans out there and people are used to John Cena the character looking a certain way. Especially when John Cena — I hate third personing myself — but, me the character is very close to me, the person. I really enjoy the movie making process. I enjoy telling stories like we do in WWE through movies.”

“This (motioning at his hair) is an uncomfortable situation for me to embrace that I dig so hopefully it will give me more opportunities to tell more stories and that’s my goal. Sometimes you have to go through some uncomfortable stuff to reach the goal end process.”

Cena also added that “it’s gonna look weird” when he steps foot in the WWE ring with his new hairdo.

“Yeah, I don’t know if I can wear a cap.”

It’s pretty obvious that the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star was joking since his immensely popular baseball caps are hot commodities and bring in a lot of money through merchandise sales.

Cena is set to make his WWE return on December 26 with a series of RAW and SmackDown house shows. The Champ has worked only two televised matches for WWE since WrestleMania 34 – a singles match at Greatest Royal Rumble and a Tag Team match at Super Show-Down.
