WWE is going through a rough phase at present. A developmental talent recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus and now a top Superstar on the NXT UK roster has been accused of sexual harassment.

Hannah Francesca has accused former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin of sexual abuse. Francesca had earlier made references to Devlin in now-deleted tweets where she made it clear that the existence of a “boy’s club mentality” makes it difficult for victims to hunt down their abusers.

The wrestling promotion she approached to identify Devlin had simply informed her that  “one of my boys wouldn’t do that.”

“This is absolutely right. The boys club mentality makes it even harder for victims to speak out. I approached a promotion about being abused by someone on their card and was told ‘One of my boys wouldn’t do that’ I didn’t talk about what happened to me for a long time after.”

Francesca has since provided photographic evidence and even noted how she was crippled by the threat of being sued by a wrestler with “WWE money.”

“I absolutely understand your intent here. But I’m not going to be sued by a man with a lot of power and WWE money. It’s a lot more complicated than just naming and shaming”

“I was also told to reach out to my abuser as the whole thing might just be a ‘misunderstanding’ [woman face palming emoji] Promoters…..educate yourself. Don’t gaslight your fans or talent.”

“This is scary. I’m really scared. Jordan Devlin did this to me. And this is just the physical damage. Not including my arse and back bruises….because I don’t fancy posting that online [woman shrugging emoji]”

In April, WWE stripped Devlin of the Cruiserweight Championship as the Irish Superstar was unable to defend the title due to COVID-19 pandemic-related travel restrictions.

WWE has responded to Alfred Konuwa of Forbes‘s request for a statement. The billion-dollar promotion is taking the matter very seriously.

We take any allegation of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter.

It would be interesting to see what WWE does with Devlin in the near future.
