Kairi Sane Denied Permission to Work Stardom 10th Anniversary

Former NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane is back in Japan now, reportedly as WWE’s promotional ambassador in the country.

Before Sane signed with WWE, she was a big part of the all-women Japanese promotion Stardom. Stardom is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year on March 3rd, and Sane was hoping to participate in the anniversary event, but unfortunately, she will not be able to.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sane was unsuccessful in her attempt to get permission from WWE to be part of the Stardom anniversary event.

Sane is still under contract with WWE and she would have still needed to clear it with them if she was to participate in another promotion’s event.

Stardom reportedly wanted Sane to have a singles match, or failing that, to compete in a rumble match with other legendary Japanese women wrestlers.

Sane began her wrestling career with Stardom in 2012 where she held several of their top titles multiple times. She left Stardom in 2017 to sign with WWE where she debuted in the Mae Young Classic tournament and won.
