WWE Legend Kamala (real name James Harris) made an appearance at The Dan Le Batard Show on ESPN Radio and talked about his health issues/
Kamala has been suffering from health issues these past years, the most serious due to complications from diabetes. He has had both legs amputated below the knee due to diabetes complications. His left leg was amputated in 2011 and his right leg in 2012.
He underwent emergency surgery back in 2017 due to fluid build-up around his lungs and heart. He was reported to have been on life support for several days.
Kamala told the radio hosts that he is still in a bad way when it comes to his health and finances.
“It’s still bad, I’m just waiting until the time comes. I have to stay in the house all the time because I don’t have a handicap vehicle. Every once in a while they will try to get me up in the truck to take me for a ride because I’m on dialysis, but that’s what I have to do to stay alive,” he said.
Kamala also revealed that he believes that wrestling had an effect on losing both his legs. Specifically, Vince McMahon’s insistence that he go around bare foot. Shoes or even sandals didn’t look very “African.”
“He [Vince] wasn’t thinking about my feet,” he said in regards to walking around bare-foot and stepping on things like thumbtacks.
