Keith Lee was one of the surprise entrants in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble on Sunday night but it wasn’t quite the Royal Rumble debut that The Limitless star was looking for since he came up against The Beast Brock Lesnar and was just one of the 13 men that the WWE Champion was able to eliminate as part of the show.
Lee will now return to NXT and continue the grind that will hopefully take him up to the main roster and face to face with Brock Lesnar again in the near future, which isn’t usually something that many stars would want. That being said, it appears that Lee wants to cross paths with Lesnar in the future and even laid down an interesting challenge.
Lee rose to prominence in the fall of 2019 after he took Roman Reigns to the limit in the annual Survivor Series match before he was eliminated and proved that one day he will be one of the stars to beat on the main roster.
It was hoped that his inclusion in this year’s Royal Rumble match would be as show-stealing as the likes of Adam Cole and Andrade in recent years, but instead, the two men from NXT who were inserted in the match were unable to have any kind of stand out moment.
Matt Riddle was the only other NXT star that was a surprise in the match and lasted just 41 seconds amidst rumors that this was to “teach him a lesson” after some issues with Brock Lesnar backstage, while Lee himself was one of Lesnar’s victims on the night. It will be interesting to see how different this collision will be in a few year’s time when Lee himself is at Lesnar’s level and seen as someone who could take on The Beast one-on-one.
