As previously reported, AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega will be making a series of appearances on Impact Wrestling.
Now, it has been officially announced that one of these appearances will be this Tuesday (December 15).
Impact Wrestling has released a Tweet confirming that Kenny Omega, with long-time friend and Impact co-executive vice president Don Callis at his side, will be appearing on the next episode of Impact.
This will be the second official appearance by Omega on Impact, following his appearance this week on the show to cut a promo.
Impact has revealed that Omega’s appearance this week drew over 750,000 viewers from AXS TV, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Meanwhile, Nielsen TV ratings found 244,342 viewers tuned in for the 8PM ET show and the 11PM ET repeat of Impact on AXS TV.
While there is no official word on what Omega will be doing on Impact this week, he will be participating in a one-night eliminator tournament on AEW Dynamite.
AEW’s Twitter has posted a video of Omega talking to “paparazzo” at the airport where he issued a challenge for this week’s Dynamite.
According to Omega, in response to Twitter critics who said he was “overrated”, he will show what he can do in a one-night eliminator tournament. If AEW talent Joey Janela can beat him this Wednesday, Omega will give Janela a title match.
The match was confirmed and made official by AEW President Tony Khan on his own Twitter page.
Omega and Janela had originally been supposed to face off during the eliminator tournament held earlier this year to determine a contender for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Janela was pulled due to a positive COVID-19 test and Omega faced and defeated Sonny Kiss.
Omega ultimately won the tournament which led directly to his current championship run as he then challenged and beat Jon Moxley during Winter is Coming special episode of Dynamite.
