Kurt Angle is happily retired from the ring. He has paid his dues to pro wrestling for two decades and at 50-years-old, he can still kick some a** like he used to back in his prime.
The WWE Hall Of Famer recently took part in a Q&A session on his Facebook page where he talked about a variety of topics. Angle was asked who according to him has the potential to lead the charge in WWE from NXT.
The Olympic Gold Medallist wasted no time in giving a very candid response.
“I’ve been in this business way too long to predict anything like that. I think there are many talents that will make an impact.”
“Velveteen or Cole or Gargano could be the ones to make the next impression in the business. It will be fun to watch.”
In his farewell match at WrestleMania 35, Angle lost to Baron Corbin, thus bringing an end to his decades-long in-ring career.
While WWE is currently hot on Corbin, it would be interesting to see for how long The Lone Wolf is able to enjoy the spotlight if Adam Cole or Velveteen Dream or Johnny Gargano made their main roster jump tomorrow.
Gargano made his main roster debut prior to Fastlane 2018 as then-NXT North American Champion with then-NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa as #DIY. Both men’s main roster stints were shortlived – Ciampa was soon sidelined with an injury that required surgery and Gargano was sent back to NXT.
At TakeOver XXV, Cole defeated Gargano to become the new NXT Champion while Dream retained his NXT North American Championship against Matt Riddle, the former UFC athlete who is on the same level as the aforementioned trio.
Fans are more eager to see Riddle making the main roster jump before the end of this year – something that would further increase the possibility of Brock Lesnar battling Riddle at next year’s WrestleMania.
