AEW’s latest talent, Lance Archer, will be making his in-ring debut on the next episode of Dynamite. Archer, who made his promotional debut on the March 11 episode of Dynamite, has signed a multi-year deal with AEW.
His in-ring debut next Wednesday was confirmed by AEW executive vice president Cody Rhodes on Twitter today (March 28).
Archer, who is a “client” of WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts, seems to be angling for a fight with Rhodes. During the last episode of Dynamite, Roberts cut a promo in which he stated that Archer would like to face Rhodes.
While Rhodes expressed appreciation for Archer’s skill set, he will not be the one that Archer will face in his debut. He implies that Archer has not “earned” a match with himself.
“AEW is glad to have him,” wrote Rhodes. “He will debut this week, but not against me.”
“He has zero record with AEW,” continued Rhodes. “Me wrestling him does a disservice to others climbing into the Top-5.”
Rhodes also said that maybe Archer and himself will have a match “down the road.” He also did not yet name Archer’s opponent.
The next episode of Dynamite where Archer will have his first match is still going to be a mostly empty arena due to the safety precautions the company is taking in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will be taped at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lance Archer is mostly known for his work in TNA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Noah. He has held championships in those companies as both singles and a tag team wrestler.
