Lance Storm Announces Storm Wrestling Academy To Close In 2020

Former WWE and WCW star Lance Storm has announced that he will be closing his Storm Wrestling Academy (SWA) by the end of the Year.

According to Storm, the September 2019 training session at SWA will be its last and it will officially close by the end of the year. Those who had signed up for 2020 had been notified of the schools closure.

Storm said that he felt that it was time to redirect his life and his career but said he wasn’t done with the wrestling business. He will be making an announcement about his next projects at a later date.

Storm started SWA back in 2005 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The SWA and Storm were known for training such talent such as WWE’s Tyler Breeze, Peyton Royce, Oney Lorcan, Chelsea Green  among others. Former WWE star and current AEW talent Chris Jericho has openly talked about getting ready to get back in the ring after some of his wrestling hiatus’ by going to SWA and spending some time training under Storm.

Given as Storm as a trainer and SWA has been so influential in many a wrestlers career, the news that he would no longer be training the next generation of talent drew reactions from his former students and friends.

Tyler Breeze tweeted out that he owed Storm a lot.

Meanwhile, the current Impact Knockout Champion Taya Valkyrie talked about how Storm and the training provided at SWA changed her life and influenced her career.

Another Impact Knockout, Gail Kim lamented the schools closing as a loss to future wrestlers. She told Storm that he was the first recommendation she would give to those seeking to get into the business.
