Lee Johnson of the Nightmare Family won his first match on AEW this week. It was also confirmed that he is officially signed to AEW.
Johnson, who mostly wrestles on AEW Dark, had a tag team match on this episode of Dynamite. He teamed with fellow Nightmare Family member, Cody Rhodes.
Johnson and Rhodes went up against Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi. Johnson was able to get a roll-up and a pin on Avalon to win the match.
The 22-year old Johnson is a graduate of the Nightmare Factory training school. He was officially announced as part of the Nightmare Family back in October. This is his first win on AEW after 29 straight losses.
AEW President Tony Khan confirmed on his official Twitter account that Johnson is officially part of the AEW roster, posting a graphic proclaiming that Johnson is “#All Elite”.
Khan also congratulated Johnson on his first win and on being “official”
Khan also shared a bit on how Johnson came onto AEW’s radar. According to him, back in April, much of the AEW roster was unable to travel and they needed to find local talents for the show. Rhodes recommended Lee and Khan was “blown away and kept booking him”.
