One of the biggest matches to already be announced for the first ever all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution sees Lita and Mickie James renew their old rivalry when they go one-on-one for the first time in almost 12 years.
Mickie James defeated Lita in her final match in WWE back at Survivor Series in 2006 to win the Women’s Championship after the two women had been part of a lengthy rivalry.
Mickie has since become a six-time Women’s Champion in her own right and one of the veterans of the current women’s division, but this time around James will be walking into the match as a heel and Lita will be a face.
Ahead of the match, the WWE Hall of Famer spoke to The Sun where she revealed that she had known about the women’s pay-per-view for a while, but she found out about her match with Mickie James the same time as the WWE Universe did.
“We were told a while ago that there was going to be an all-women pay-per-view and they were still getting it together, but they asked if I’d be interested in being a part of it in some capacity – and I told them to count me in,” she said via Ringsidenews.
“That’s pretty much all the conversation was. I didn’t know if I’d be doing commentary or even just being invited to attend to support the women. And then I found out when you all did that Mickie James would be my opponent and I would not just be a part of Evolution but I’d actually be in the ring. That’s when you just hold your breath and go with it.”
Lita has remained active on the Independent Circuit in recent months and shockingly made an appearance at MCW Wrestling on Saturday night.
Other matches that have been announced for WWE Evolution include Alexa Bliss taking on Trish Stratus and Kairi Sane defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler.
