The Lucha Bros, Penta El Zero M and Fenix, are set to remain as AEW talents for at least one more year.
WrestleZone is reporting that both men, who are real-life brothers, saw their AEW contracts expire in August but were promptly re-signed.
The exact date that the Lucha Bros’ contracts expired was August 31 and they signed new deals on the day to extend their contract into 2021.
The Lucha Bros wrestle for both AEW and AAA Lucha Libre, they are the AAA World Tag Team Champions successfully retaining at Triplemania XXVII.
AEW and AAA Lucha Libre have a working relationship and the Lucha Bros’ signing with AEW should not have a negative effect on their AAA Lucha Libre career.
However, it should be noted that Penta actually wrestles as Pentagon Jr. in AAA Lucha Libre and the AEW name change is a result of the fact that AAA Lucha Libre has the trademark to Pentagon Jr.
Penta El Zero M is reportedly dealing with a minor calf injury, so his physical involvement in AEW matches has been rather limited this month. He’s mostly been making appearances alongside his brother and their ally Pac.
Fenix, on the other hand, has an AEW World Title opportunity against Kenny Omega at AEW’s New Year’s Smash Night One on December 30.
