The reigning, defending, undisputed and longest-reigning Universal Champion Brock Lesnar could finally be close to hitting the final bell in WWE as the company seems to prepare for its future without The Beast.
During the advertisements sent out on Saturday for the WWE Super ShowDown scheduled to take place in Melbounre, Asutralia, this October, CEO of WWE Vince McMahon hyped that basically every member of the RAW and SmackDown brand would be appearing at the event. Shawn Muicahels, The Big Show and Kurt Angle are the advertised legends featured for the show. The Undertaker and Triple H will also square off against each other for one more time since WrestleMania 28 at the Super ShowDown. John Cena and Ronda Rousey are also booked for the event.
However, one name that is apparently missing is WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. This is a clear sign that either WWE doesn’t know whether Lesnar will join the USADA testing pool by June 30, 2018 to leave for UFC or will stick with WWE after SummerSlam. Simply put, WWE is in the dark regarding Lesnar’s after August.
It was earlier reported that although WWE is yet to drop the hammer on the SummerSlam plans for Lesnar, the idea is for another Lesnar vs. Reigns match for the Universal Championship. Brock defeated Roman Reigns on two consecutive occasions namely, WrestleMania 34(via pinfall) and Greatest Royal Rumble (courtesy of a controversial finish) to retain the title. If Lesnar leaves the company after August, then it is evident that The Beast will be dropping the title to Reigns in another WrestleMania 34 main event rematch or whoever Vince McMahon decides will be his opponent.
Braun Strowman won this year’s Money In The Bank briefcase which has led to speculations that McMahon is now finally done with Reigns and is actually listening to the fans, thus Strowman’s big push. Other rumors claim that although there will be a Lesnar vs. Reigns main event for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam where The Conqueror will once again reign supreme, Strowman will cash in his briefcase to finally dethrone Lesnar to become the new Universal Champion.
