Mark Henry Aims To Shape Up WWE Locker Room With New Role
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry is the company’s new “locker room enforcer.”
On Not Sam Wrestling, Henry talked about the key pieces of etiquette that the locker room has lost over the years and how he plans to fix them with his new role in WWE.
“Me being gone this last year and a half, there’s a lot of stuff that’s happened in the locker room that would’ve never happened under my watch.”
“People arguing and fussing about stuff. There’s been a couple of people be habitually late, which Vince hates. But he doesn’t have Taker or me. Booker’s not there — only at TV. Big Show’s been injured. So all the guys that hold peoples’ face to the fire is not there.”
“That sh*t is fixing to come to an abrupt stop. Because I will be at all pay-per-views now. We’re gonna reestablish the chain-of-command.”
Vince McMahon Talks Losing Superstars
During the fourth-quarter investor call, CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon addressed the current series of injuries in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. The Chairman named every Superstar WWE has lost in-and-out recently.
“The unfortunate aspect of sometimes in our business, is that we… our performers are not cartoons. They get hurt. This year, leading up to where we are now, we’ve had an inordinate number of injuries. And when you have injuries… you know, there’s a whole bunch of them.
Roman Reigns being the principle among them. And even John Cena, not an injury type thing but we thought we were going to have John be more of a part of our programming than we do. John, God bless him, is making more movies. And even John, I would think, would say, ‘Geez, I thought I was going to spend more time with what I love to do,’ which is WWE. So, he’s been coming in and out, he’s not really a part of out storyline.”
“You lose John, you lose Roman Reigns. In addition to that, we’ve had injuries… Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, who is one of our top female performers, was injured. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Bray Wyatt, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose, Ember Moon, Samoa Joe, Akam forms a new tag team, Jason Jordan, Fandango, Big Show, Seth Rollins.”
