Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) made his All Elite Wrestling in-ring debut last night, tagging with his real-life buddy Cody Rhodes, against John Silver and Alex Reynolds of the Dark Order.
Zack Ryder saved Cody from the duo’s attack last week, and triumphed over the heels, hitting his Radio Silence (Rough Ryder) for the pinfall win.
Ryder signed with AEW last week after his release from WWE back in April. It is rumored that he is working on a short-term deal with the company, with reportedly five appearances listed in his contract. He has already done two of these, and if a new deal isn’t negotiated, he may be out of the company soon.
Ryder, wasn’t the only former WWE star making his way to AEW Dynamite this week, as Eric Bischoff made his AEW debut as well.
The former General Manager of RAW and President of WCW officiated the live debate between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy. Bischoff ended up announcing Cassidy as the winner of the debate.
Bischoff’s time with WCW was mentioned on commentary, and how he went 83 weeks undefeated in the Monday Night Wars.
It is unclear if Bischoff is signing a full-time deal backstage with the company. AEW has a knack of hiring former big names as managers (Jake Roberts, Taz, Vickie Guerrero) for their superstars, and Bischoff could be the next in line for a role with the company.
