Matt Jackson recently won the AEW Tag Team Championship along with his younger brother Nick, defeating FTR at Full Gear.
Jackson’s leg injury has been in focus during his matches, and apparently, it is real and not a worked angle.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the EVP of AEW has been working with this injury for months, and the company decided to keep him active and use it for storyline purposes.
Jackson didn’t wrestle on this week’s Dynamite as he wasn’t cleared for in-ring action. Jackson sustained this injury during his Falls Count Anywhere match between Butcher and the Blade some time ago.
Several wrestlers weren’t aware that Jackson is actually working with the injury, as the company decided to keep the real nature of it under wraps.
AEW has often been notorious for not focusing on their talents’ health after Matt Hardy was allowed to wrestle at All Out despite suffering a concussion.
