If you are a guy in his 30’s, you no doubt grew up with the Hasbro line of WWF action figures. These things were awesome and some of us have been having a blast collecting Mattel’s retro action figures that are a throwback to this line.

We have seen protos for upcoming figures for a few weeks now, series 3 has been at retail for a little while and featured Goldberg, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose.

Series 4 is going to have Ric Flair, who is a great improvement over his 1993 Hasbro figure. Fin Balor, Sami Zayn and a repaint of Kevin Owens. Protos for these figures has been all over Twitter. Series 4 along with the Mattel WWE Retro Ring are due for release in April.

As far as series 5 goes, things are a little weird. We have actually seen carded images of what people are assuming is wave 5 which will feature Macho Man Randy Savage in an NWO attire. While cool to be getting a retro Macho Man figure, the attire choice is a little weird. A long tights ring gear Macho Man/Macho King was sorely missing from the original Hasbro line and this was a great opportunity to make that happen. As well as Savage, this series features all three members of The New Day.

Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt and Kurt Angle have all had prototypes shown. Along with an Enzo Amore who you would have to assume is not going to see release.

This is a fun line of figures and the future of the line certainly looks bright…. Even if some of the attire and character choices appear a little odd.
