Michelle McCool Reveals Original Plans For The End Of The Undertaker’s Streak

The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania was ended in 2014 at WrestleMania 30 by Brock Lesnar. However, according to his wife, it could have ended earlier.

Former WWE Diva and Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, who is married to the Undertaker, recently did an interview with NYPost.com. During the interview, she let drop some news about how the streak was supposed to end earlier than 2014.

McCool told the NYPost that there had been talks in 2008 of the streak being broken by the then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge.

The Undertaker was to challenge Edge for the WWE World Heavyweight Title during WrestleMania 24 and be defeated. However, according to McCool, Edge didn’t want to do it as he didn’t see what good it would do for his character.

“It was Edge that was actually like, ‘That makes zero sense. I don’t want to do that. Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What’s it gonna do for Edge?’” recalled McCool.

“It was Edge that went to bat for the streak,” she added.

McCool also talked a little about WrestleMania 30 when the streak was actually broken. According to McCool, she only heard that it was going to happen on the day itself.

While McCool herself couldn’t believe it, she said that Taker was fine with the streak being broken by Lesnar at that particular time. According to her, the Undertaker knows that “business is business.”
