Miro Reveals He Asked for His WWE Release Back in 2017

Current AEW star Miro was released from WWE alongside a number of other wrestlers back in April when WWE was forced to make wholesale changes following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Formerly known as Rusev, Miro was one of the last stars released and perhaps one of the biggest shocks since his wife Lana is still part of the company.

In the weeks leading up to his release, it had been rumored that Rusev was looking for a way out.

Interestingly as part of a recent appearance on The Talk is Jericho Podcast, Rusev revealed that he actually asked for his release three years prior.

“Well, I did ask. About three years ago, I did ask. Because it was another situation where I was just unhappy. And I talked to one person, the next day that conversation was on the dirt sheets. It was really like who do you go to? Who do you turn to when you’re down, when you need advice, when you need someone to be like ‘hey man you’ll be okay.’ You have nobody because they’re all stooges. Somehow it always leaks out, you just don’t feel safe. If you don’t feel safe, you don’t know where to turn to then you are naked out there.”

Rusev went through a tough time in 2017 when it came to his career in WWE, but he was able to find his feet once again before his storyline with Lana and Bobby Lashley kicked off a forgettable 2020 for the former star.
