WWE is gearing more aggressively with their plans to sign more major women’s wrestlers. It was recently reported that top Japanese wrestler, Io Shirai is headed to WWE, however she is not the only one under the radar.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is speculating that IPW: UK Women’s Champion, Xia Brookside is headed to WWE. Brookside is not revealing the reason behind cancelling her summer bookings with World Wonder Ring Stardom but has indicated a big opportunity coming up soon. To Dave Meltzer, it means she is headed to WWE, the Mae Young Classic and possibly a full-time deal after that if things go well.
Xia is the stepdaughter of WWE Performance Trainer, Robbie Brookside.
As of the moment, Japan’s Stardom promotion is taking a hit with WWE’s aggressive signing of a couple of their top stars. With its new television deals with FOX and NBCUniversal which are valued at $2.65 billion, WWE has more money to spend on talent as it looks to expand into other countries and independent promotions should be concerned more than ever.
