The black-and-yellow brand of NXT was originally been conceived as first a “reality” show, then a training ground for potential WWE Superstars. However, it’s developed its own vocal fan base and its own roster of stars, many who don’t do as well when called to the main roster.

With many hot single stars and even hotter tag teams who developed their persona and cultivated a fan base on NXT floundering – or just not getting as much opportunities – in the main roster, it’s no wonder many of the NXT faithful are beginning to think their favorites should stay where they are.

Current NXT star and indy darling Johnny Gargano, who also goes as Johnny Wrestling, validates that mindset a little during an interview with the Daily Star.

According to Gargano, some NXT wrestlers are beginning to view NXT as more or less a permanent home for their careers.

Gargano was asked if some current NXT wrestlers might prefer staying in NXT rather than getting the “coveted” call up to RAW or SmackDown.

“Everyone’s dream – and mine too – is to wrestle at WrestleMania, but right now NXT is such a special place,” said Gargano.

““Everyone always talks to me about when I am going to the main roster, but I love NXT. And that’s not a company answer, I genuinely love it and I’m very proud of it,” he added.

This sense of pride in the black-and-yellow brand is a sentiment Gargano believes others share.

“We are focused on building something wrestling fans can be proud of, and we are building it together,” said Gargano about the NXT locker room.
